That cool thing is the fact that Wii Homebrew download seriously isn't licensed through Wii or Nintendo in order to seriously download thousands upon a large number of games and job applications.

Nonetheless for this you simply must do something, and what's it?

Throughout earlier days in the Wii Homebrew 2007 once the console first designed its dbut you might need to Mod chip your current Wii which supposed instantly voiding your Warranty so that they can unlock your Wii towards world of Homebrew. 3. QUESTION:
i want to buy a wii so i can homebrew it, what should i do first?
does it matter what kind of wii it is? (like if it dosn't work on newer ones or older ones). also what else should i buy/is recommended (like classic controllers, or gamecube controllers). i just want the ideal setup, i don't want to use the wii for wii games just to homebrew old arcade games like sonic and stuff. thanks

    • ANSWER:
It does not matter what kind of Wii it is. All that matters is the type of system menu it has, which you can check by going under your Wii options. Note that all required programs are available through the link I'm going to post.

      1. A Wii.
      2. An SD card + SD card reader that can plug into a computer.
      3. The Homebrew Channel(make SURE it is compatable with your system menu type - 4.2, the latest, requires a completly different Channel than it's predecessors.)
      4. Bannerbomb and BootMii.

If you're system menu is 4.2, go here:
      http://tehparadox.com/forum/f41/wii-soft-modding-guide-4-2e-system-firmware-558017/

If it is 4.1 or less, simply google the following:

      Bannerbomb
HackMii(Usually, BannerBomb and HackMii are together).
      Preloader
      Homebrew Channel

      Hope this helps.

  6. QUESTION:
Wii Region free 4.0 and wii update?
I recently softmod my wii running 4.0 and I want PAL games to work on my US Wii, are there any programs for this? Where can I download them?

I also can't update my Wii anymore after I modded it (i just get an error code) I followed these instructions to softmod it:

Go to Data Management then choose Channels followed by SD

    Choose "Yes" to load boot.dol

    LoadMii will then load.

    Press "A" on the WiiMote.

Go down to DowngraderIOS35.dol and run it by pressing "A" on the WiiMote.
Choose downgrade IOS35 and then let it go, then choose exit (ignore the patchmii and dvdx)
It just loads back to LoadMii and if I setup WiFi and run it again its gives me an error that the title is already added

You'll be back in LoadMii now.

Go down and run Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "A" on WiiMote.

Just select normal settings (don't change IOS)

    Install IOS35.wad.

Exit Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "HOME"

    You'll be back in LoadMii.

Run Wad Manager again, Select IOS35 when it asked what IOS to use.

    Install the CIOSv7.wad.

    Press "Home" to exit.

    Then Run Wad Manager again.

    Tell it to use IOS249.

    Install IOS36.wad & HBC.wad

You will now restart Wii to find that Homebrew Channel is installed and working. Have to hold the power button pressing
the home button does not seem to work

    NOW setup WiFi

Launch the HBC and run WAD manager and install IOS60patched.wad

From the HBC run cios rev10 installer Choose network install not wad

Run IOSdowngrader from HBC (You will still have 4.0 but patched with trucha)

    Run CIOSCORP and install

Finally Run preloader 0.29 and setup up how you like. Press 1 to continue (Block disk updates ect.)

I did block disk updates, is that why I can't update?

    • ANSWER:
This kind of stuff is illegal to ask on these boards. Why don't you go back to whoever or whereever you got your Wii hacking kit, and ask around there. They should know, and it probably won't be against the community rules to ask there.

  7. QUESTION:
Need help on chipped Wii console?
    Hi guys!

I just bought a chipped wii that lets me play copied disks which are only 150 indian rupees each (about 4 USD)
Well I dont exactly know how this happened but my wii was semi-bricked when i received it. This means I cannot access my wii settings or any oher channels besides te disk channel and Mii channel. I get this Opera error which says something like:
"The web page is curently unavailable make sure you are connected to the internet.... ...... .....
    marc: FIX/US/ENG/index0.html"
Well, this is the part I have a problem with....
So today went to my unofficial retailer and explained the problem to him.
He said that once you chip the wii it blocks the wireless function...
I had researched this and had found out that this is caused when you install a different region's firmware onto a different wii region console.
He told me that the wii was originally japanese and even I knew that because it was in a japanese wii box with japanese manuals.
Now my current firmware is 2.8 US and he said if I upgraded it the copied discs would not work as 2.8 firmware was the maximum India has. He said that I should not update my wii, but this is the recomended fix or a semi bricked wii...
I am not so much concerned with the wireless ability as I am with being able to access the wii settings.
Do you think if I use a region changer like AnyRegion changer to change my Wii region to US it will work?
What are the chances of completely bricking my wii?
Also I want to install the homebrew channel directly from a burned ISO
a.) do i use the japanese installer.iso or the american one?
    b.) any risk of bricking?
c.) do you think it will work with my current setup?
d.) will it update my wii to above 2.8? (I do not want to)

Thank you for reading this far even if you don't have an answer.
I appreciate you taking your time trying to help me.

    Thanks again!

How Has The Technology Of Today Changed Our Lives

Today there is so much new technology. There are computers with the Internet, TV's with channels galore, iPods and MP3 players, digital cameras, DVDs, video games like Xbox 360 and play stations. With all this newfound technology most people would rather stay inside and play around with all of the technology stuff then go outside and play a game of kickball or baseball.

Computers along with the Internet have changed how everything is done now days. With the Internet there are website to go to and play games or even websites to chat with friends like Myspace and Facebook. The Internet has also changed how people connect with each other. Now, instead of sending cards in the mail people send e-cards over email. They also send emails to stay in touch with each other and to do business because it is a faster way to get connected with someone.

TV's are another technology that has changed what people do, especially kids. There are so many different channels and shows that anyone can get hooked to. It keeps kids inside watching TV all day instead of going out and being active. Along with the TV there are the massive sound systems and the huge clear picture of the TV. These sound systems and pictures make watching a show or even a movie more real. It is almost like you are in the movie experiencing every sound and movement. It is, in my experience, better than going to the movie theatres.

With DVD's everyone has access to movies and viewing them on their own TV at home, so why go outside and play when you can be inside watching movies all day. That brings me to the next piece of technology: the video games. These games have a way of holding a persons interest for a very long time. Sitting there, viewing the game on the TV screen and being a part of the game is fun. Some games even are capable of letting you talk to others playing the same game that live everywhere through out the world. Other technology that has given everyone more to do is iPods and digital cameras.

With digital cameras you can view exactly the picture you just took and also crap and edit them on your computer. The iPod is one of the best pieces of technology, I think. An iPod can hold tons of different songs on it and you can take it anywhere and just put headphones in your ear and listen to it. It is amazing at how much technology has changed over the years and the impact it has had on our society.

  4. QUESTION:
Why is video from my DVD player and wii washed out?
I have a DVD player and a wii connected to my television through a RF modulator because the TV only has coax cable input. The screen is washed out (too bright). Everything is fine when the TV is showing directly from the cable. I've fiddled with the color/contrast/brightness/etc... settings until I'm blue in the face. What else could I be checking to fix the problem (assuming that it is fixable).

    • ANSWER:
Your modulator is putting out a signal that's not very good.

Not much you can do, except to try to reduce its strength -- but I'm sure that it probably isn't adjustable. You could run it through a splitter, so only 1/2 or 1/4 of the signal goes to the TV. Or maybe even multiple splitters (1-to-4 followed by a 1-to-2 or another 1-to-4) to reduce it by a factor of 8 or 16.

No guarantees that it will work, though, but splitters are fairly cheap (you might even be able to borrow some from your friends).

how can i hook up a wii to a dvd player?
i have a wii and i wanna put it in my DVD player so i don't have to keep unplugging stuff.

Note that some players require you to turn your DVD players on to have the signal pass through.

  9. QUESTION:
Can you connect a wii to a portable dvd player?
Is there any way to connect a wii to a portable dvd player for a car trip?there will be a car outlet, but not a normal one. Is there anyway to make this work?

    • ANSWER:
I seriously doubt it, unless your portable dvd player has audio and visual input ports. If it does (by some miracle), you would also need an outlet for the power supply, but I also doubt the car outlet is really designed for such a purpose. The Wii is a console, and doesn't really like to be used whilst in motion. Sorry.

  10. QUESTION:
component cord to hook my wii or dvd player to TV?
i just got a HDTV 1080p and theres not enough inputs or outputs i dont know what its called, its for the red yellow white cords and i'm able to use the component cords. umm should i get the component cords for the wii or my dvd player?

    • ANSWER:
The component cable set consists of 5 cables, blue-gree-red video and red-white audio, and that's suitable for HD. What you're referring to are composite cables, yellow video and red-white audio; used for standard-definition video.

Check your DVD player and Wii carefully for both component and composite output jacks. Chances are at least one of them has the 5 component jacks, so you can connect it to your TV that way and connect the other unit at the composite input.

If both units have only composite jacks, and you have only one composite input on your TV, then you might consider a composite switch. See the link for an example.

how do i connect a DVD player and a WII to a comcast HD cable box? Do i need a RF modulator?
I have a comcast HD cable box and would like to connect my DVD player and WII to my HDTV. Any suggestions? and please do not advise to call comcast customer service>

    • ANSWER:
A modern HDTV will have all sorts of inputs. Your cable box doesn't matter, for you cannot connect through that.

The Wii can connect to composite or component, in either case with the right accessory cable.

The DVD player, if it is no older than 5-6 years old, should connect with component, or HDMI if it is an upconverting type.

The cable box should use HDMI.

If you do not have enough of one sort of input, then you can get an A/V selector box for that input.

  17. QUESTION:
Is it okay to plug my wii into my dvd player and then into the tv?
My dvd player can record, so I was wondering if I could record me playing a video game, and someone told me to plug my wii into my dvd player and then plug that into the tv. Or plug the dvd player into the wii and then plug that into the tv. Anyways I wondered if that would make my tv/wii/dvd player explode or something.

If that IS dangerous then can you tell me a way to capture video of a video game on a wii without having to but anything?

    Thanks!!!

    • ANSWER:
Well let me tell you this make sure you always plug your syestem in a surge protector because I plugged it in an extension cord and it have a power surge and fried 2 of my syestems. But plugging it in to the dvd player will not harm it at all. I do it all the time. The main thing is where the power cord is plugged in so I assure you its completly ok to play using the dvd player. Now with recording if you know how then it may be possable but if it only records TV shows then not likely because thats what most do.

  18. QUESTION:
Can I add an external dvd player to the wii through the USB port??
Can I add an external dvd player to the wii through the USB port??
Is this possible? What would I need? what else is the USB port for the wii?

    • ANSWER:
Nope, an external dvd player needs software for whatever is playing it, the wii doesn't have that software.

  19. QUESTION:
Help with tv + wii + DVD player + AV cables?
I just got a new TV (LG - 42") and it only has one set of AV (Video in Audio in [red yellow white]) jacks. And I have one of those little boxes with four other sets of AV jacks, but I'm not sure how to connect it to the TV. I have a short cord that has the same thing on either side, a kind of hole thing that has a little tiny needle type thing, not really sure how to describe it, in side. I used one before to connect my tv to my DVD player. Any way, my wii and DVD player both have three av cords and I can only plug one set in at a time. Any suggestions? Like what I'm looking for is a maybe easy fix? Or a link to a web page telling me how to fix this or a link to a page where I could buy something to fix my problem?? Please help!

    • ANSWER:
ok that round thing with the pin its called RF it's generally what you hook up cable with. If your TV is a new it probably has HDMI and Component ports. you'll probably keep you DVD player on composite (red white yellow) cables, but your Wii. We can put your Wii on Component cables. Component is composed of five cables. red-blue-green for video and then red and white for sound. You can buy these cords from any Target or Best Buy for around and they will slightly increase your Wii's picture quality(unfortunetly the Wii cannot output HD but Component will get the best picture from a Wii) and keep you from having to switch your Wii and DVD player around.

here they may look like this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rocketfish%26%23153;+-+Component+Video/Stereo+Audio+Gaming+Cable+for+Nintendo+Wii/8989525.p?id=1218008590688&skuId=8989525&st=Wii%20component&cp=1&lp=3
      hope I helped

  20. QUESTION:
How do I use a dvd player to record Wii gameplay?
And do I have to record it to a dvd or can it go to my laptop?

Or is there any other way to record Wii gameplay?
In the end I want to put a walkthrough up on youtube.

    • ANSWER:
To record gameplay from your Wii or any other home console, you just have to connect your game system to our preferred video recorder, be it VCR, DVD-Recorder or DVR. You can use a TV tuner with your PC to use it as a homemade DVR.

To get the video to your computer...

For VCR's, pick up a USB VCR (like one listed at http://www.amazon.com/ION-Audio-Video-Computer-Converter/dp/B0017PJ5FI )

For DVD, place the DVD in your computer's DVD-ROM drive & use your preferred video ripper (VLC can do this) to convert the DVD video into a digital file.

For DVR's, please refer to your manual for transfer options or transfer to a DVD first.

For a quick method of recording, you can pick up a TV Tuner. Since you have a laptop, you'll want to use a USB TV Tuner ( Like Hauppauge's WinTV-HVR-950Q for 0 -- http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr950q.html ) which will allow you to record the video directly to your computer's Hard Drive to make it a LOT easier for you to upload to YouTube.

      Hope this helps!

  22. QUESTION:
I need help hooking up direct tv , wii, and dvd player to automatic hd switcher?
Im having trouble hooking up some things to my tv. I have an old tv and was using an rf modulator and i had regular cable (Mediacom) so it wasn't a problem because we used mainly the tv and the wii. We just plugged in wii to rf modulator and the cable was plugged into cable box. When I got direct tv...it had to be plugged into rf modulator...i was told you can get something where you hook up 4 things at once to tv...i got this automatic hd switcher at walmart...and it doesn't have any place to screw in cable for direct tv...it just has ports for the red, white and yellow plugs...Im wondering if I need something else to make this work or if there is an easier way to hook up my wii, dvd player and satelitte cable all at once....I do have a DVR box for the satelitte cable if that helps...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...im not very good with electronics so be very specific in your directions
it is a phillips automatic switcher that i bought...I have a coaxial cable that come out from tv hooked into the tv in screw to rf modulator...and the red, white, yellow plugs from dvr is plugged into rf modulatorthe cable for satelitte is screwed into direct tv 's adapter box and the other cable from that box is screwed into DVR...on the adapter box it says signal to ird and power to swm...i hope this helps
I don't want any smart aleck answers...the tv is not that old...it was bought in 2001 it is just a cheap one. It works absolutely fine so there is no need to replace it when i can't afford a newer one right now...please give me helpful suggestions...not criticisms

    • ANSWER:
Actually, I'd take back the box, and buy a NEW TV SET....

There's no reason to have all that NEW stuff running into a TV set built last century....it never was designed to give you a good picture with all that NEW Hi-Tech stuff you have..

That's like gaming with a PS3 on an old vacuum tube TV set....The Flint-Rock Model 30 with "Living Color".

I believe it's time to update your TV set Mr Flintstone....

  23. QUESTION:
How do I hook up my PS2/Wii/DVD Player to my T.V. w/out any cord holes?
Well, I had a smaller T.V. b4 and it had 3 little holes on it to very easily hook up my PS2/Wii DVD Player... and now I have a big tv, but no cord holes in the front. So, is there something I can buy to make it work???
Don't have a VCR in muh room.
haha. oh, jacks. ok, sorry idk i just called them holes, haha.

    • ANSWER:
Most likely they are on the back, if its a recent TV.. If you dont find the "holes", or rather RCA jacks then you can get something (cant remember the name right now), but it will convert the Yellow/Red/White to a Coax Cable (the wire that goes to your TV).. I think its called an RF Modulator, go to your nearest radioshack and ask about it.. Say "I want RCA to Coax" and they will be able to help you :) .

  5. QUESTION:
How to Install Homebrew Channel on a Wii Version No. 4.3?
I'm trying to find out how to install the Homebrew channel on my wii. Yes, I have never had the homebrew channel on there before, and I have never hacked it at all, unless if using powersaves is considered a hack. I am also aware that installing the wii will void the warranty, (as it probably has already expired anyways)

    1. I'm looking all over the place at methods of installing it using the SmashStack method, and I am hearing all different things. Can someone give me complete instructions of where to get all the necessary files for using the exploit, and how to install that, step by step with what I should see and do. (I do not want to install the DVD reader feature or whatever it is as I hear that it will ruin your wii after running it for a while, and besides, I can always use by DVD player made just for that; Unless if it is required, then can you please explain why it is needed)

    2. What is the worse case scenario that if something goes wrong when installing of what can happen to my wii. Will an error in the installation process cause it to become bricked, and if something like that was to happen before priloader was installed, could it be recoverable?

    3. Once I successfully get it on there, is there anything that I shouldn't do on my wii? I know that you shouldn't update it ever, but can you use WiFi connection if your not cheating using the Homebrew channel without having to worry about getting kicked off? If I was to use the Homebrew channel to cheat in Mario Kart Wii online, do I have to worry about getting kicked off?

    4. I know that priloader is a program that can be used in the event that your wii becomes bricked weather it is by accident or malicious channel. But is there ever a case where preloaded can't help you if your wii becomes bricked or semi-bricked, and how do you know if your wii if bricked?

    5. Is there any apps that I should avoid?

    6. Will there ever be a time that I will have to update the firmware for my wii, and if so, what would that do to my wii?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but I don't know much about the Homebrew Channel and all of it's extras. Thank you in advance.

    • ANSWER:
Wow. Too many questions to answer all at once. But here is all the Information you will ever need about the Home Brew Channel and how to get installed.

I will say this, though. After you get the HBC installed, I would recommend disabling Wii Connect 24 in the system menu. Then it will not pester you to update the system in the future. Doing so may brick your console or uninstall the HBC, or both.

  6. QUESTION:
How do you install the Homebrew Channel for Wii?
The directions on how to are too confusing for me! I need the newest version and the one where you don't have to have the Zelda game.

Just to let you know, I'm doing it because I want to get at least one star on Mario Kart. I don't plan to hack online, too risky.

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Step 1: Download BannerBomb: http://bannerbomb.qoid.us (If you have 4.1 or lower, then get V1. If you have 4.2, then get V2) and the HackMii Installer: http://bootmii.org/download (Be sure to download the latest version).

Step 2: Open the "BannerBomb" archive and move or copy the "private" folder to the root of your SD Card.

Step 3: Open the "HackMii Installer" archive and find the "boot.elf" (Or .dol) file and move or copy this file to the root of your SD card.

Step 4: Insert your SD Card into the Wii.

If you have 4.1 or lower (BannerBomb V1) then click on the "Wii" button down the bottom left corner, go to Data Management, then Channels, then click on the "SD Card" tab. If you have 4.2 (BannerBomb V2), then simply click on the little SD Card button in the bottom.

A message will pop up saying "Load boot.dol/.elf". Click "Yes". You're now in the HackMii Installer, and you can install the HBC, DVDX (Allows you to use rewritable discs in some applications) and BootMii (Allows you to recover from bricks).

Install them all (If you can only install BootMii as an IOS, then you don't have to install it) and exit the HackMii Installer.

You'll automatically go to the HBC and here you go!

  7. QUESTION:
is there a way to install the homebrew channel with the wii 4.3 update?
i updated my wii to version 4.3 (bad mistake) and now i want to install the homebrew channel on it.
alright I have anotherr question along with this one.
    - What do you do if there is an #004 error when you try to use the bannerbomb thing ona sd card.
also i do not have brawl.

    • ANSWER:
I've answered this question two times already today. Next time use the search feature so that you can save time from asking.
      This is my original answer:

The twilight hack has been obsolete for a long time. First you shouldn't have updated your Wii without knowing exactly what would happen. You could have bricked it.
To reinstall the homebrew channel I suggest you first try bannerbomb. It is an exploit that does not require a game disk, only an SD card. It is know to work perfectly on most versions up to .2 but it is unconfirmed for 4.3. It might or might not work but it the easiest so it is worth a try.
Go here to get bannerbomb: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Bannerbomb

If that does not work on the new Wii Firmware then all hope is not lost. There is one more exploit that will probably never be patched, Smashstack
Smashstack uses an exploit in Super Smash Bros Brawl. For instructions on how to use it and a download link for it simply go to:
      http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Smash_Stack

      Quote from source:
Smash Stack is an exploit from Comex that uses a flaw in the custom stages in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (NTSC) to load unauthorized code on the Wii. It was released on August 20, 2009. It works for all System Menu versions.

And a bonus to prevent your nephew from updating again.

  8. QUESTION:
how do i install the homebrew channel on my wii?
if anybody can give me legit steps and directions on how to install the homebrew channel on my wii please help :)

    • ANSWER:
Please visit http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_setup for all the information & download links you will need to install the Homebrew Channel yourself.

Please be aware that you'll need your own SD card (w/ a reader for your computer) & possibly one of the listed games, especially if you're running Wii Menu 4.3

  9. QUESTION:
Is there a way to install the homebrew channel for wii withouth a SD card or mod Chip?

    • ANSWER:
      In short: NOPE!

If you want the Homebrew Channel, you'll need to cough up the for an SD card + a USB SD card reader for your computer (if you don't have these already) as you can only utilize what the Wii can support.

As long as you're running Wii Menu 4.2 or lower (but no lower than 3.0), you can install the Homebrew Channel.

If your Wii is running a Wii Menu lower than 3.0... you'll need to find a game with a Wii menu update enclosed on it to get you updated.

If your Wii is running Wii Menu 4.3... You CAN install the Homebrew Channel (they finally found a workaround & released an update), but you'll need to use "Indiana Pwns" or "Smash Stacks" exploits to install it.

  10. QUESTION:
will something bad happen if i install the homebrew channel on my wii?
i really dont want to screw up my wii, but i really want to be able to have dvd playback and such. also, if something bad does happen, like nintendo needing to fix my wii but they get mad because i have the homebrew channel and refuse to do it, would it fix that problem if i uninstalled it? any other problems you experienced would be nice too.

    thnx

    • ANSWER:
Well, installing a software program can't give you dvd capabilities as far as i know...

Whenever a new version of the wii program thing comes, it scans your system for those things. if it finds them it "bricks" or completley disables your wii. I don't reccomend it.

  11. QUESTION:
How do I install Homebrew channel on my wii?

    • ANSWER:
      go here: http://hbc.hackmii.com/

but let me warn you I have talked with several Nintendo reps and this is what I got:

Installing the home brew channel is not supported and is against the T&Cs of the Wii and WiiConnect24. After installing it, it can cause back round(internal) problems not visible at first, it may crash your Wii or you may not be able to update it. When playing online your Wii can get banned permanently from ALL online use if you are spotted hacking, I was not told if they can detect a hacker even if they are not using their hacks. Nintendo cannot repair Wiis that have the home brew, and deleting it won't change anything because it still leaves traces on your system drive. They, as well as me, strongly suggest not installing the Home Brew, as it CAN brick your Wii and require repairs, which will not be done by Nintendo, I don't know if other people can repair it.

I know you can have problems like bricking your Wii but has this ever happened to any one after installing homebrew

    • ANSWER:
hbc is safe now. the twilight hack back in the day was a bit more risky. if you haven't done it yet do it. it's a great feature. if you do the rest of the soft modding, it's a really great feature.

  2. QUESTION:
    Installing homebrew channel?
I tried to install the homebrew channel with bannerbomb but the wii freezes. I have system 4.2. I'm not sure what to do when it freezes. I've tried a few different versions of bannerbomb but nothing seems to work. Just wondered if anyone knew something I was missing. Thanks!

  3. QUESTION:
The Twilight Hack for installing the Homebrew Channel won't copy?
I downloaded the HomeBrew installer to make the file(s) for me. I erase my Twilight Princess memory and then when I try to copy the Twilight hack it says 'the data was not copied'. Help please?

    • ANSWER:
Most likely you are on system menu 3.4 and using Twilight Hack 0.1beta1, which is incompatible. System Menu 3.4 included a security feature to block the Twilight Hack. You have to use the latest Twilight Hack 0.1beta2 which bypasses this security feature.

      You can get it here:
      http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/?c=1

Just make sure to download "twilight-hack-v0.1-beta2.zip" NOT "twilight-hack-v0.1-beta1.zip"

Also make sure you are putting the data.bin file in the right directory for your region. "RZDP" for Pal (Europe), "RZDJ" for NTSC-J (Japan) and "RZDE" for NTSC-U (America).

if these are not the right one could you link me to one that would work to install the homebrew channel.

    • ANSWER:
      Based on your pictures...

Picture 1 is an SD card.
Picture 2 is an SD micro card.

The Wii supports the STANDARD SD card. SD Mini & Micro cards will need an adapter to work with your Wii. Most SD Mini/Micro makers usually include the SD adapter.

      http://www.cheapchips.com.au/resources/image/Micro%20SD%20to%20SD%20adapter.jpg

  13. QUESTION:
Help with installing the Homebrew Channel on the wii!?
I'm using a Korean wii that was changed in to a US region wii which allows me to play US games and have EVERYTHING like a US region wii... However today i bought an SD card and tried to install the Homebrew channel on the wii. then it says "there is no vulnerable ios installed on this wii" and it can't continue...

My Wii is 4.2u that was first a Korean Wii but now a US region Wii (a certain someone in a certain shop did this for me) and I think the Wii was a lower version before i got my first game. I bought Twilight Princess on the 2nd day and as soon as I tried to play it, it said that Twilight Princess has to update the wii so i did it then it turned in to a 4.2u version.

The Wii already has some apps which were gotten from the homebrew channel (i think) like Gecko OS, Backup channel, Wii USB loader, Softchip loader and some games which the person who originally had the Wii must've installed.

So please can you help me? If there's already a problem like this is the wiihacks.com forums or some other place that is infamous for it's help for hacked wiis please can you put it as your source? Thanks!

Also, if any of the channels above can actually help me fix the problem please tell me and how to or give me a link to a site that will tell me! Thanks to the person who will give me the info i need!

    • ANSWER:
The 4.2 update installed a "stub" which will give you this error
Follow this guide and you will be fine but make sure you do not update to 4.3

  3. QUESTION:
Is the Wii Homebrew Channel Legal?
This question is for Homebrew users. I'm quite new to the Homebrew Channel and I was wondering if its Legal. What can you do on the channel and can you play ROMs and Imported ROMs on it? Can you also add Wii themes to your Wii as well? I know you need Zelda Twilight Princess to use Twilight Hack to get to the Homebrew Channel but is there another way I can do it with out having a chance of damaging my Wii in the process?

And will the Homebrew interfere with my gaming as well? And another question about the Ocarina Hack. What all is involve with that? And where can I find codes for it? Can I use the cheats on Wii games and Virtual Console games? I would really appreciate it if a Wii user could help me out. Thank you. :)

Also, I heard there are certain types of programs that can harm your Wii on the Homebrew Channel or freeze the console all together. If anyone can help mw I would be appreciated. And what stuff should I stay away from on the Channel? Sorry for the long question. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
      Real Answer:

Wow. That's a lot of questions! Let's see if I can answer them one at a time:

#1) Is it legal? Well, considering what goes on inside the Wii in order to get the channel onto the Wii to begin with, it's not exactly following your terms of service by any means. I use my Wii to watch movies more than anything, quite frankly. It's nice to be able to shove a move, or a season of The Office or Lost onto a jump drive, and just watch it straight from that.

So, I suppose it's not legal - since people can play burned copies of games, and such. It falls under the same category as Jailbreaking an iPhone. Everyone does it, the company tries to get rid of it under the table, because coming out and saying "Hey! Don't do this!" would just spark more people's interests in it.

Yes, by using the "Homebrew Browser", you can access emulators and such for legacy consoles.

Adding Wii themes is possible, but has a VERY likely chance of bricking your Wii, and is highly frowned upon.

The Twilight Princess hack is almost 2 years old, and is outdated. The guide to follow for hacking your Wii now is here: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ - There is little to no risk by using this new method.

No, the homebrew wont hurt your gaming. You can have alternate game launchers that enable the usage of Ocarina Codes. Think of Ocarina as gameshark, if that makes more sense. Yes, you can use cheats on Wii games - but not for Virtual Console games. That would require you running an emulator instead.

Just don't use any programs that don't have an explanation attached. If it's a mainstream app, you'll know. Just keep a cool head, and read what others say about certain homebrew apps, and you'll be just fine.

      Glad to help! :D

  6. QUESTION:
    Wii Homebrew question?
Ok already had it working before 4.0 but now I updated and put it on the sd channel where u can launch downloaded games and such, but now the homebrew channel doesn't work is there a way to get it working again?

    • ANSWER:
Since you have 4.0, the twilight hack method of installing the Homebrew Channel won't work any more and never will. Recently, the hackers have come up with an other exploit called Bannerbomb that will install homebrew on 4.0 and any firmware lower. I myself haven't used it, but from user comments, it does seem to work. Bannerbomb works by using a malformed banner to crash the Wii and load the boot.dol file in the root of the SD card which will install the homebrew. In some ways, this installer is better than the twilight hack, as you don't need to have a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess to start in the installer. You can get instructions on how to use Bannerbomb on wiibrew.org.

Also, remember that if you transfer the homebrew channel onto the SD, it won't work any more as the way the Wii boots things of the SD card is by temporally copying it to the Wii then it boots it. Because Nintendo is trying to stop homebrew, they have blocked the homebrew channel from being copied back to the Wii

  7. QUESTION:

    Please help!

    • ANSWER:
Gecko OS can be downloaded here:

After you download and extract it, put it in the "apps" directory of your SD card.

  10. QUESTION:
How to put Homebrew on 4.3u Wii?
I'm going to college and I'm gonna be very limited on space, so I need my Wii to play dvds as well as use its currently installed channels, such as Netflix, Disc Channel, etc. I'm moving into my dorm on Saturday, so I really need to get this done as soon as possible. I don't have any of the games that I've seen people use to hack their Wii, nor do I have ready access to them. I'm not going to buy any software to do it, because I could just buy a DVD player if I was going to spend money. I need to know, preferably step by step, how to softmod my Wii and install Homebrew on it. I have a 4GB SDHC memory card that my Wii recognizes and I already have it formatted to FAT. So, can someone just tell me how to do this and where to download what I will need? I'm running out of time!

Thanks so much for your help!

    • ANSWER:
First of all, you'll need to use the Letterbomb exploit ( http://wiibrew.org/wiki/LetterBomb ) to get the HackMii Installer running on your Wii to install the Homebrew Channel.

Second, you'll need a homebrew media player that includes DVD-Video Support. I recommend Wii MC ( http://www.wiimc.org ) for this as it has a graphical interface.

You can get everything & installation instructions at http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_setup & http://www.wiibrew.org

Please be aware that using your Wii as a DVD player may yield undesirable results. You're probably better off using a Laptop for a DVD player or just buy one for .

  12. QUESTION:
    Wii with USB External Harddrive?
My wii is already hardmodded. I would like to soft mod my wii because I don't want to use CDs anymore. I was wondering what I need to know about soft modding my wii and where can I get accurate instructions. Also what harddrive should I buy? I am planning to use Homebrew and USB Loader GX. I recently updated my wii system because I got a message saying I couldn't play the Boom Blox burned wii game unless I do (is that a bad thing to do?). My wii is about 2.5 years old.
My question is which sites do you recommend that can give me instructions to soft mod my wii? There's so many sites on homebrew and USB loader GX that I don't know which one is accurate and plus I heard that it depends on what wii system you got so I don't know which version should I download.

    • ANSWER:
Hey whats up, I learned how to softmod my wii by watching a video i saw on youtube. All you need is a wii verions 4.3 and a sd memory card. 13. QUESTION:
How can I fix error 002 on my soft-modded Nintendo Wii?
I have a soft-modded Wii that I use to run homebrew applications, but I recently decided I'd try using it to boot Wii games from DVD backups. I have tried using many different backup launcher's such as Gamma, GeckoOS and Starfall, but I keep getting error 002 when I try to run one of my games. I have the version of Gamma that supposedly bypasses this error, and I also have CIOS36 rev 7 that is needed to use Gamma properly, but I am still having no luck. I have tried using Gamma to run my normal copies, and it runs them fine. I have no idea where I am going wrong, as it appears to be loading the game up until the point where I get error 002. Does anyone know what error 002 is and how I can fix it?

    • ANSWER:
That means they need to be patched via WiiScrubber or your using the wrong IOS, try the SoftChip launcher you can choose your IOS you want to run, Gamma automaticaly runs cIOS249

  14. QUESTION:
    Help with homebrewing my wii!?
I am trying play games on my wii
I have set up my 2gb sd and it's set up as the homebrew channel
    On my wii,
But not I'm stuck where to get games from and how to put them on my
Sd card (I thought it would just be like putting games on a DS r4 card)
    Help!! Thanks for your time,

    • ANSWER:
you're going to need somthing like usb loader 1.4 it will allow you to play games off a usb/sd if it is formatted to wbfs. to format it go to wbfsmanager.codeplex.com download wbfs manager, install it, format it, and add the iso to you're sd card. please note that the wii will only be able to read it with usb loader 1.4 if you would like to have a complete tutorial on how to do this go to
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtMCSMh3m3I&feature=channel_video_title
and it should teach you how to do this. p.s. a 2 gig will only hold like 1 game such as new super mario bros. wii not even mario kart wii will fit. so you might want to get a usb hard drive.

  15. QUESTION:
So I did the LetterBomb Hack to my Wii today, Update?
Now where you would start the game normally it says Wii System Update. If I do the update is it gunna mess up my system?? And now that I have the homebrew channel installed I don't know how to actually hack Black Ops. I can't get Ocarina to work for me and Gecko won't load the codes properly either. What am I doing wrong??

    • ANSWER:
      Alright..

If you have only done the letterbomb exploit and nothing else, you need to trucha patch IOS36, then install cIOS.

If you've followed a guide to softmod, do not repeat anything you have already done.

      First, trucha patch;
      http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha

When you installed the Homebrew channel with the hackmii installer, you should have also installed bootmii. If not, run the installer again and install it.
If you have an older Wii you should be able to install bootmii as boot2. If you have a newer Wii (2008+) you will only be able to install bootmii as an IOS.

      I'd suggest installing priiloader. It can help save your Wii if you have a NAND back-up. (if you could only install bootmii as an IOS) As well as block disc updates and some other cool things;
      http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/system-hacks/priiloader
      And here's some info on how to use it;
      http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/Priiloader

      Now, I'd suggest you make a NAND back-up with bootmii;
      http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/how-to-use/bootmii

After that, you can install your cIOS; (Required to play back-ups, some apps require it too)
      http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/waninkoko

Now, if you've installed priiloader, and placed the hacks.ini in the root of your sd card.. Power down your Wii, then turn it on and hold reset right away, it should boot to the priiloader menu. Go into system menu hacks, and turn the block update options on.

Hopefully that will get rid of the games asking for updates problem, if not, you can use the rebooter function in Neogamma; (Options < Rebooter Options, Skip Updates : Yes < Return < Use Rebooter)
      http://gbatemp.net/t158884-neogamma-thread

      As for codes, you can use this app to download them, and convert them to .gct;
      http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Accio_Hacks

After you have your .gct file created, go into Neogamma. Options < Ocarina < Wii Hook Type : VBI, Wii Ocarina : Yes.. Then go to the menu and hit Launch Game On DVD. You should see it find your codes when it's loading. Note that some codes may not work together, or at all..

      And now your Wii can do a whole bunch of stuff. I suggest you download this and look at some of the apps;
      http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Browser

      Hope this helps you out!

  18. QUESTION:
How can I install a USB Loader on a Wii with firmware 4.3U?
For the last couple of years, I've avoided performing any official Nintendo firmware updates on my Wii, as I run a lot of homebrew applications, including a USB Loader that allows me to play Wii games stored on a hard drive. Official Nintendo updates can reverse such things.

But, my roommate's daughter recently brought home a physical copy of Epic Mickey and played it on my Wii without asking. The game required her to perform a firmware update to version 4.3U, which erased the Homebrew Channel and negated use of my USB Loader.

I'm not dumb when it comes to these things, but not a tech guru either (the only way I got Homebrew set up in the first place was by reading a VERY detailed tutorial). I've managed to get the Homebrew Channel reinstalled (via the SmashStack hack) and get custom firmware installed. But I've tried a couple of different USB Loaders and I simply can't get them to work.

Can someone offer me some advice of where to go from here? Can someone find me another detailed (and easy for beginners to understand) tutorial? I can't get anything to work and it's kind of angering.

    • ANSWER:
I have some great hacking tools over at my blog that may be able to help you.

  19. QUESTION:
I updated my Wii to Wii Menu 4.3, and all my Homebrew content was saved, but they do not run. Why is this so?
Today(November 2nd, 2010) was my sister's birthday, so we got her Kirby's Epic Yarn. The thing was, I had to update to Wii Menu 4.3, in order to play the game. I let her update and told her I'll figure something out. 20 minutes after the update completed, the Wii reset itself, which is normal, I understand. HOWEVER, all my Homebrew content-- such as The Homebrew Channel-- are still there! I figured they'd probably still run.

NOW, let me clarify, I've bought 3 copies of Super Mario Galaxy. The first one stopped working, the second one stopped working, and the 3rd one stopped working. They ALL stayed in their boxes, where they're safe, yet they STILL stop working. I figured "if this keeps happening, I'm not gonna keep benefitting to Nintendo!", so I went and download Backup Launcher for the Wii. Everything worked just fine, until I updated. Now the game REFUSES to run! This is frustrating because I'm not going out to buy ANOTHER COPY of Mario Galaxy JUST so it can stop working again!

Please help me. I'm really, really annoyed with this.

    • ANSWER:
Don't panic. As long as you have the latest Homebrew Channel version 1.0.8 installed, you'll probably be fine. However, backup launchers and USB loaders usually use things that are wiped out by a 4.3 system update, such as a CIOS required by the backup launcher you're using.

To fix it, completely reinstall whatever CIOS and backup launcher you were using previously. As long as Homebrew Channel 1.0.8 is installed, you should be able to go through the process again. But remember to look for updated versions of everything you install, since they often get better and more compatible with later system versions. Good luck!

How much is a ps3 160gb slim worth?
I have a Playstation 3 160 gigabyte slim and would like to know what i should sell it for. I have the

ps3, 5 games (Black Ops Hardened Edition, Mw2, Need for Speed, Hot Pursuit, Little Big Planet 2

(yeah.... not sure why i bought that one -_-), and cod 4), 2 sony six-axis dualshock3 (standard)

remotes, all the cords, including a 10-ft long HDMI cable, and the box with all the instructions and

what not. It is practically new.. I have recently bought it. I also have a Turtle Beach PX21, but am

keeping that for when I get an xbox. I want to know what i approximately how much i would get for

all of this. I want to know what game stop would give me, and how much i would get on ebay. I want

to buy an xbox.. Not just because psn is down and has been down for like a month, but because all

my friends have an xbox. Dont yell and say xbox is gay and dont get one and whatnot.. And dont

say game stop wont give you shit for your stuff.. Just answer my question please.

(Note: I have a wii im willing to sell.. Its an old one, its been hacked and has bootmii and homebrew

and neogamma and all of the attachments. But would be good as new if formated.. i have about 15

wii games after i sold 30+ of them because I didn't want them. I have 3 white remotes and one black

one, 2 wii motion pluses, 2 white nun chucks or whatever their called and 1 black one, and 2 classic

How much could i sell it for to game stop? It also has 40+ games from wii shop on it

(yeahhhh.. I spent about 400 on wii cards giving me points -_-), how much could i sell this for on

    ebay?)

How much could I sell all of this for at game stop? how much could i get from ebay?
Sorry about the odd spacing.. I ment to double space it.. But the final text box must have been smaller than the edit box.. therefore it made it all weird.
like i said... just shut up about not selling it and what ever else your saying.. my friends have xbox.. thats the reason.. i actually said it isn't because psn is down.. and you should see what the people in the xbox category are saying.. I copied and pasted this to xbox category. they are saying the exact opposite of what all of you are saying XD

...Would you want a ps3 if your you had no one to play with? no.. your wouldnt.. youd want an xbox.. exactly

    • ANSWER:
      Listen:
I know you probably have your heart set on an Xbox. But it really isn't worth all of this, or even any PS3. I have had both since release, I have both slim. The xbox is full of little kids and 40 year old loners, and the people are extremely rude and will curse at you on the mic even if you dont say a word. Xbox really limits what you can do, but anyways. buy an xbox and you will definately miss your ps3. I lost my ps3 to a house flood, my xbox was safe because it was collecting dust in my closet... i missed my ps3 for a year, when i finally was freed of the shitbox and it's inhabits.

To answer your question, gamestop will probably give you about 0 for it all. Ebay you could get a lot more, around 0 - 0 depending on if you sell the games separately or something

@matt w, finally someone who agrees with me. They are everything you guys said, rude, drama starters, and racist as hell

  4. QUESTION:
What kind of games can you get on your Wii with the Homebrew Channel?
I'm a bit curious - can you download games that haven't been released in North America but are still in English like say, Europe? Are there limitations. I have everything I need to hack my Wii, and I know how to do it, I'm just curious about the Homebrew Channel.

    • ANSWER:
Homebrew channel has a ton of useful apps and stuff.. you can browse and find some interesting stuff but yeah to be honest if your gonna go to the trouble of 'Hackin' ya wii may as well go the whole hog. You can play back-ups (lol) of original games from any region (think you have to fiddle with the region thing though otherwise you get black and white and other screen probs.. not as serious as i just made it sound though) install a ton of games to an external hard drive and you know.. play em all without killing your laser.. download and install wiiware games and yeah just general whatever you like.

I think the only thing you have to watch out for is updating in the wrong region.. seriously look that up.

The homebrew channel is just the gateway to the rest of the stuff and can be a lot of fun just trying out random homebrew games and apps but lets be honest.. its time to start trying before your buying so have as much fun as possible.

  10. QUESTION:
My Wii needs to be repaired but my son installed homebrew channel, will they nintendo do it?
We haven't played any pirated games or even USED the homebrew channel. Now when we play smash bros brawl we get the "cannot read game disc" error. I guess we're supposed to send it in to have nintendo repair it, but I'm scared they won't do it because of homebrew. Do you think I should do it? I don't want to lose my wii for two or more weeks just for them to tell me they won't fix it.

    • ANSWER:
      Well here's my story.

My Wii Suddenly Stopped reading Super Smash Bros Brawl. I called Nintendo and they said that it needed to be repaired. I had homebrew installed on my Wii, with a Homebrew Channel and a Backup Loader visible on my Wii Menu. I didn't know what to do, so I simply moved all of my Homebrew apps to the last page of my Wii Channels and set the screen back to the first page before I sent it in. Since all they had to do was fix the lens, all they really needed to turn my Wii on for was to see if the Game Disc Worked, not screw around with my channels or data. They fixed it and sent my Wii back to me, Homebrew Channel still intact and undetected.

So I would say sure, send it in if the problem is something like the Lens or disc drive or something like that. However, you may need to think a little longer if its a problem with the memory, because if do find the homebrew channel, they will not fix it.

EDIT: I actually typed this before I read your details (rookie mistake) to notice you have the same problem I had. Do what I did and send it in. It worked for me.

  13. QUESTION:
Ive just updated my wii to 4.3 and now usb loader wont work and the homebrew channel aint there?
What do i need to do to get my usb loader to work ?
And do i just need to get the homebrew channel ?

    • ANSWER:
You broke the first law of Homebrewers...

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP ALL YOUR HOMEBREWED STUFF UP TO DATE BEFORE UPDATING YOUR SYSTEM!!!

As you were running HBC 1.0.6 or lower (as HBC 1.0.7 & 1.0.8 were Wii Menu 4.3-safe), the Wii Menu update deleted HBC & all the cIOS's required by USB Loader.

To get things back in working order again...

      1) You'll need to re-install the Homebrew Channel -- You'll need Super Smash Bros. Brawl OR Lego Indiana Jones if you don't have BootMii/Boot2 installed (as the update would have wiped BootMii/IOS as well).

If you have BootMii/Boot2, you can re-install the Homebrew Channel through that.

      2) Install cIOS 236 -- This is to get the Trucha Bug back on your system as you can patch the latest version of IOS 36 any more.

      3) Install cIOS 249 -- This is required by USB Loader.

Please visit http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/home for all the instructions you need to restore everything you broke on your modded Wii.

    • ANSWER:
Just ask to borrow his sd card. All the software that you will need to get the hombebrew channel should be on the sd card that he used. That way you can get the homebrew channel and your friend wil still be able to keep it, so you will both have it.

  16. QUESTION:
How to delete the homebrew channel?
Let's say that I installed the homebrew channel onto my Wii. If my Wii broke for whatever reason and I wanted to send it into Nintendo to get it fixed under the warranty, how would I go about deleting the homebrew channel? The reason I'm asking this is because apparently the homebrew channel is illegal and Nintendo wouldn't take too kindly to that if they found out I installed it (If I sent the wii to them to fix) Basically I want to be able to get rid of it if I need to send it to Nintendo.

    • ANSWER:
just uninstall all the wads with the wad manager or other aplication that do that
and then delete the homebrew channel normally

My Nintendo Wii is connected to my wirless internet here so I am able to get on the internet, so I was wondering does anyone know a way that I can get the Homebrew Channel directly off of the Wii?

    • ANSWER:
No you cannot simply download it becuase it is not a nintendo legit channel. In fact its techniclly illegal as nintendo have stated that noone should modify their consloe without proir express permission.
the only ways you can get it on a 4,3 system menu Wii is to use Yu-Gi-Vah or Indiana Pwns. I used Banner Bomb on my 4.0 system menu and really after you load Bootmii you never need to update again.

My suggestion would be to simply rent out the games from your local rental shop and use Yu-Gi-Vah or Indiana Pwns then.

      Hope this helps

As for cheating in animal crossing I use ocarina as I find it compatible and easy to use, most codes work (like 9,999,999  Bells). I comes in two parts  an app for the wii and a cheat editor for your computer, it can be downloaded here:

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
House of the dead OVERKILL (Shocking review)?
I wrote my own mini review on overkill, just so you know what you are preparing yourself for!

I heard there was lots of outrage and the game was very controversial. It shocked people everywhere and it was bloody good fun. My monthly nintendo magazine gave it an fantastic! score of 9/10. And i own house of the dead 2 & 3 (Wii) So it was time i gave it a try. 2 days ago i went to game and purchased a copy for £30. I gave it a try and it was fantastic and very funny. The game has a great atmosphere. And all throughout the game you feel like you are watching an old grindhouse b-movie. The game manages to keep you alert & awake the throughout by adding shocking dialog and cutscenes. You never know whats coming with overkill. and thats one of the things i love about overkill. The game has a nice smooth feel throughout and it is a true guilty pleasure kicking bullets at these infected mutants. The games is not completely perfect. I think the character Washington dropped way too many F bombs for the games own good. And this is definately not a game to have around while ur old grannys visiting. The levels are vast and impressive. Also in store is an addictive scoring system. That you can have fun with in online forums on the net. There is also multiplayer mode so you can play with your friends anytime. The games humour is weird but wonderful. And the cut scenes are embarrasing to have playing while your family are in the room. The bosses are a treat but maybe a little too easy to beat. Ounce you complete story mode, dont go and think its all over. If you enjoyed the game as much as i did you will quickly be coming back for more. There are new guns to purchase, and unlockable movies, pictures, soundtracks, and rotational 3d images. Unlockables are unlocked by shooting certain objects in a level and bonus points are earned by shooting golden brains. The game has tons of gore and is definately not for the squeemish (girls) The game is not how it used to seem. The cut scenes are shocking. The levels are gory and the game in general is bleeding terrific!

    What is your opinion

    • ANSWER:
I purchased the game not too long ago not reading anything about it or even hearing about it until I was at the store. I'd say it's alright but yeah, the guy does say the "f word" a whole lot. Also, it seemed kind of laggy on my Wii. Maybe it's just mine, but I think that it could've been a lot faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Wii homebrew suggestions?
Any suggestions as to good apps / games for wii homebrew.. Please no usb loaders or crap like that. Legit apps only please.
@bob my wii isnt online, so hbb is useless for me. But thanks for the game, its awesome.

    • ANSWER:
I highly recommend the Homebrew Browser. It allows you to download apps directly on your Wii Homebrew Channel. After that, I suggest trying Open Jazz, an open source version of Jazz Jackrabbit.

  2. QUESTION:
Is it illegal to own the homebrew channel on the wii if you're not downloading/playing illegally dloaded games?
I was just curious. My friend told me about bannerbomb, and I was really interested but not fond of illegal activity so I won't do it until i get a definite yes or no.

-Is it illegal to have it on the wii?
-Is it illegal to download and use apps?

    • ANSWER:
Some of these answers are seriously ticking me off.

It is NOT illegal to install and use the homebrew channel, DVDX, and/or BooMii. It is also NOT illegal to use and run homebrew applications..

The reasoning for this is simple:

1)While you break the EULA by installing homebrew, the EULA was written by Nintendo. Nintendo does make computer software/hardware laws, the government does. In short: the EULA means nothing. Even less so in some countries than others.

2)All Homebrew code is original. Not a single line of homebrew code is shared with a single line of official code.

3)You can do whatever the hell you want with your Wii. You purchased it. You can decide what to do with it. Nintendo can not tell you what to do with your Wii.

I've spent literally hours debating this on WiiBrew and Tehskeen and other sites in the "homebrew scene" along with marcan, bushing (the two fathers of Wii Homebrew) and other people "high up". The result of every debate has always been reached the following conclusion: HOMEBREW IS NOT ILLEGAL

  3. QUESTION:
Besides the Homebrew Channel and DvDx, what else do I need to play my backup games on Wii?
I have installed the homebrew channel on my wii along with dvdx, but I still cannot play the backup copies of the games I own. When I go into the homebrew channel there are no "apps" in there if that makes a difference. I also bought a couple of games when I was in Europe, and I can't play them because they're PAL (which I didn't know at the time). I hear there is a way to play them on a NTSC system. I'm probably missing a "app" or something, and if anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it.

    • ANSWER:
ok make a folder on your sd card called apps makes sure its apps not APPS then put neogamma in the apps folder google it make sure there is a file called boot.dol then load up neogamma and pick region options there you can set up region patching to play PAL games and also you will need CISOS Installer to install cios google as well and it wont harm your wii I play lots of PAL games

  11. QUESTION:
Can I get in trouble for downloading the Homebrew Channel?
My cousin and I both downloaded the Homebrew Channel for our Wiis using Bannerbomb so that we could edit our Animal Crossing towns.
It worked fine and we had a lot of fun.
I didn't do anything major to it. I changed the name, grew all the grass back, added some trees and flowers, killed all the weeds, and changed the terrain a little bit. I didn't cheat to get lots of money. Just for landscaping.
Now I am a little scared that I can get in trouble for doing this.
I've heard that I can brick (whatever that means) my Wii if I update the latest menu version.

    Can I?

I also heard that if I Homebrew some WiFi games (Super Smash Bros. Brawl) then go on WiFi, that people can report me and I can get banned by Nintendo.

    Is this true?

I was also wondering if it was safe to install apps and insert cheat codes using Ocarina on the channel.
By cheating, I don't mean completely messing up the game. That is exactly what I DO NOT WANT.
I mean just doing some fun things and some helpful things, but not keeping them forever.
If I add some cheat codes, can I use them, then turn them off and continue gaming normally with no side effects? Can some cheat codes actually damage my Wii or the games?

If there are some safe cheat codes that I can easily enable and disable then can you tell me?

Also, what are some good SAFE apps that I can get and that are easy to install?

I ONLY WANT THEM IF THEY ARE GUARUNTEED TO BE PERFECTLY SAFE!!!!

    Thanks a ton!! :D

    OVERVIEW:
    - What does it mean to brick your Wii?
    - How can I prevent bricking my Wii?
    - Is it possible to damage your Wii with the Homebrew Channel?
    - Can I get banned if I use cheats over WiFi?
    - If I use cheat codes with Ocarina, can I easily enable/disable them without any side effects?
    - Is the Homebrew Channel dangerous? At all? How can I prevent anything bad happening?
    - Give me as many other safety tips as you can!

    Thanks. :)

    • ANSWER:
im starting from the "OVERVIEW" part

-brick meens that if you brick your machine, its not good anymore, you would have to reinstall the all the programing and everything. that meens you could no longer play online because you need the original programing
-by never opening the wii or adding anything to it. no additional programs except everything that Nintendo says "ok"
      -yes
      -yes
-some you can others may be unchangeable and brick your system
-it may contain bad programing from a corrupted file and brick your system
-put it this way, buy the system, play with it the way it was intended to and add no other extra programs unless you know what your doing otherwise you'll brick your system...
